Franciscan Holy Land & Egypt Pilgrimage – CANCELLED

Join us on this new pilgrimage to the Holy Land and Cairo. Meet your tour in Tel Aviv before traveling up the Mediterranean coast to Mount Carmel and Mount Tabor, the spot of the Transfiguration. Watch pilgrims renew their wedding vows in Cana, see the Church of the Annunciation in Nazareth, spend time in Tiberias then board a boat and sail on the Sea of Galilee to Capernaum.

Next, it’s on to Jerusalem with a stop along the Jordan River to renew our Baptismal Promises. In Jerusalem, visit the Chapel of the Ascension and the Church of the Pater Noster on the summit of the Mount of Olives, with a panoramic view of Jerusalem. Walk in the Garden of Gethsemane and see the Basilica of the Agony. Touch the spot where Jesus was born within the Church of the Nativity in Bethlehem and see the birthplace of John the Baptist and the Church of the Visitation in Ein Karem. Follow the Via Dolorosa to Golgotha inside the Church of the Holy Sepulchre and venerate the Tomb of Jesus. Visit the Wailing Wall and the Upper Room before traveling to swim in the mineral laden waters of the Dead Sea.

On day 9, depart the Dead Sea and drive through the barren wilderness of the Sinai Peninsula to Mt. Sinai where God first spoke to Moses. You’ll have an opportunity to climb Mt. Sinai, followed by a tour the magnificent Monastery of St. Catherine before heading off to Cairo.

Tour the monuments of Egypt including the Pyramids and the Sphinx before continuing to Memphis, capital of the Pharoahs during the Old Kingdom. Visit the statue or Ramses II and continue to Sakkara, the Step Pyramid, and the Pyramid of Dahshour also known as the Red Pyramid built approximately 4,600 years ago.

Our final day in Cairo includes a visit to the Egyptian Museum of Antiquities including the treasures of the Tomb of Tuankhamen. Next to the Citadel to see the Alabaster Mosque of Mohammed Ali followed by a visit to Old Cairo.
