Franciscan Pilgrimage to Italy – CANCELLED

Join us as we celebrate our faith on this spectacular pilgrimage to Italy. Meet your tour at Rome’s Fiumicino airport and then board a bus to Orvieto where we’ll visit the Signorelli Chapel in the Cathedral of Orvieto before continuing our drive through the beautiful Umbrian countryside to Assisi.  Here we’ll walk in the footsteps of St. Francis and St. Clare and visit the Porziuncola and the Basilicas of these two beloved saints as well as the Convent of San Damiano. We’ll take additional excursions from Assisi to the medieval Tuscan towns of Montepulciano and Siena.

On day 5, we’ll head south to Loreto to visit the Shrine of the Holy House, believed to be the house in which the Virgin Mary was born and raised in Nazareth. Then we’ll continue to Lanciano, site of an 8^th century Miracle of the Eucharist. Next, we’ll travel to San Giovanni Rotundo where Padre Pio spent most of his life. The following day we’ll head for Rome, stopping at the Basilica of Volto Santo which contains the Holy Face of Manoppello, reputed to be the veil that covered Christ’s face during His burial and resurrection.

Our first full day in Rome includes visits to the Roman Forum, the Colosseum, the St. Sebastian Catacombs and St. Paul’s Outside the Walls built by Emperor Constantine over the site of St. Paul’s tomb. There will be leisure time built in for you to explore the city on your own. The next two days we’ll visit St. Peter’s Basilica, the Vatican Museums and the Sistine Chapel. We’ll join the weekly Papal Audience in St. Peter’s Square (subject to the Holy Father’s schedule) and then visit the Spanish Steps and the Trevi Fountain before enjoying a farewell dinner at a local restaurant.
